Law reunites with Weisz for romantic drama

posted by admin on March 22, 2011 under Movie News with 0 comments

Ten years after their raunchy sex scene in Enemy At The Gates, Rachel Weisz and Jude Law are playing on-screen lovers again. The handsome Brits were spotted looking cosy as they filmed scenes for their latest movie 360. Wearing a long brunette wig, the 41-year-old actress cuddled up to Law, 38, at an outdoor cafe in London yesterday. The drama sees Weisz reunite with film-maker Fernando Meirelles, who directed her Oscar-winning performance in The Constant Gardener five years ago. The cast also includes Sir Anthony Hopkins, Maria Flor and Karl Markovic. The film follows a group of individuals in different countries making choices that not only affect their relationships, but their locations. 360 will include seven different languages and various locations across Europe, including Paris, Vienna and Bratislava. Law and Weisz have been friends since playing lovers in Second World War film Enemy At The Gates, which saw them having a sex scene on the floor of a bunker. In 2006, they both featured in My Blueberry Nights – but had separate plotlines. As well as filming together, Weisz also used to live on the same North London street as Law and his ex-wife Sadie Frost. Law is recently single after his January split from Sienna Miller and has been throwing himself into work, with several film projects on the go at once. Meanwhile, Weisz is now dating Bond actor Daniel Craig after meeting on the set of Dream House last year.

Weisz the new ‘Bond’ girl?

Actress Rachel Weisz is reportedly in talks with director Sam Mendes to star in the new James Bond movie, opposite her rumoured new love interest Daniel Craig. Filming on the 23rd 007 film is set to commence later this year and hit cinemas on November 9, 2012. Craig will reprise his role as the superspy for the Mendes-directed action movie – and Weisz, who was spotted strolling hand-in-hand with the actor over Christmas, is in negotiations to star opposite her alleged new lover, according to Britain’s Grazia magazine. A source tells the publication, “Rachel has been speaking with Sam for some time now about appearing in the new Bond film, long before she and Daniel hit it off.” The publication also reports Weisz is planning to leave her home in New York and move back to her native U.K. with her son, Henry, by former partner Darren Aronofsky. The Hollywood couple ended its eight-year relationship in 2010, announcing news of the split in November after several months of separation. The insider adds, “Whatever happens, she intends to move back to London this year. She loves her life in New York but she desperately misses England, and is keen to reconnect with her roots there. But most importantly she wants to be there to support Daniel. “Rachel and Daniel have become very close and are serious about one another. It seems that being photographed holding hands was their way of showing the world that.”

Weisz, Gambon join BBC Two thriller

BBC Two has announced an all-star cast for its new thriller Page Eight. The show, which is David Hare’s first original screenplay for 20 years, will feature actors including Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Judy Davis, Michael Gambon and Ralph Fiennes. The drama follows Nighy’s character Johnny, a long-serving MI5 officer who is shocked when his boss and best friend Benedict (Gambon) dies suddenly, leaving him a mysterious file. Meanwhile, Johnny has a seemingly chance encounter with his next-door neighbor Nancy (Weisz), a political activist. Eventually he ends up walking out of his job and “out of his identity” to find out the truth. The cast also includes Ewen Bremner, Felicity Jones, Tom Hughes, Alice Krige and Saskia Reeves. Hare said: “The last decade has been as testing as any in the history of the British intelligence community – the compromises and dilemmas they’ve faced in the new century make a fascinating story. I’m thrilled to be working with such an extraordinary ensemble of great actors.” Filming for Page Eight will begin this month and the film will air later this year.

First Still: Rachel Weisz in ‘The Deep Blue Sea’

The first still from The Deep Blue Sea has landed online, highlighting Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston’s on-screen chemistry. The actress has her hand on his shoulder while the actor puts his hand on her waist, presumably while doing a dancing scene.
In the movie, the two are indeed playing a couple. Weisz is “dazzling socialite Hester Collyer” while Hiddleston is “a dashing ex-RAF pilot”. But their love affair does not go smoothly as she is already married to a high court judge, portrayed by Simon Russell Beale.
Set in the ’50s in Merseyside and London, “The Deep Blue Sea” will see a forbidden love that leaves Hester with an impossible choice. The story is based on a play of the same name by Terence Rattigan.
Production was kicked off in mid November and is planned to be wrapped this month. Terence Davies serves behind the lens of the drama in addition to teaming up with Terence Rattigan to write the script. No release date has been set for the drama yet.
