Rachel Weisz thinks “happiness is the secret to health”. The British actress – who has a three-year-old son Henry with her long-term partner, director Darren Aranofsky – believes her contentment with family life helps keep her looking good. The 39-year-old beauty said: “I’m pretty healthy but I don’t have any fad diets or anything. I eat meat and drink alcohol, but everything in moderation. “I think happiness is the secret to health.” The Lovely Bones star also admitted she doesn’t feel the need to take time out of her schedule to work out because looking after Henry uses up so much of her energy. She explained: “Carrying a toddler around is incredible. I’ve got in shape from the baby, not from the gym.” In The Lovely Bones, Rachel plays a mother whose teenage daughter is brutally raped and murdered. Despite the dark plotline, the actress says being able to go home to her family helped her switch off at the end of every day. She said: “Any mother has worries about the death of her child, but as an actor you have to imagine all sorts of things – some beautiful, some ugly – and one isn’t necessarily harder than the other. “In a way a film set is a safe place to imagine it because it’s not real. It’s just fantasy. When I went home I left it at work.”

Rachel Weisz is calling on movie bosses to ban Botox for actors, comparing the popular age-defying injections to illegal “steroids for sportsmen”. The Mummy star will turn 40 on Oscar night (March 07) but she still refuses to follow the Hollywood trend. And Weisz is appealing for her fellow stars to stop the cosmetic procedure and start accepting their real age and wrinkles if they want to give award-winning performances. She tells U.S. magazine Life & Style, “It should be banned for actors as steroids are for sportsmen… Acting is all about expression.”

Rachel Weisz and Jude Law are the toast of London’s West End again after winning the top prizes at the British capital’s only public-voted theatre awards. The pair walked away with trophies from the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards last month with Weisz winning Best Actress for her turn in A Streetcar Named Desire, while Law was honoured with the award for Best Shakespearean Performance for his leading role in Hamlet. And the two Brits have won the Best Actor and Best Actress prizes from dedicated theatre website Whatsonstage.co.uk, which asks the theatre-going public to vote for their top performers and shows. Prison thriller Cell 221 and Rachel Weisz’s historical drama Agora were the big winners at Spain’s Goya Awards on Sunday night (February 14). Cell 211 scooped a massive eight trophies at the ceremony in Madrid, including Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director for Daniel Monzon and Best Actor for Luis Tosar. Agora, which stars Weisz as a female philosophy professor in Roman Egypt, picked up seven prizes with nods for Best Special Effects, Wardrobe and Best Original Screenplay. Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire was chosen as best European film.

Rachel Weisz has joined the thriller Dream House, starring opposite Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts. Universal Pictures will distribute. According to Variety, Jim Sheridan is directing from a David Loucka script. The film tells the story of a successful publisher (Daniel Craig) who quits a job in New York City to relocate his wife (Rachel Weisz) and two daughters to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her two children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived. When Will investigates the tragedy, his only lead comes from a neighbor (Naomi Watts) who was close to the family that died. As Will and Ann piece together the disturbing puzzle, they discover that the story of the last man to leave Will’s dream house will be just as horrifying to the one who came next. Production already began in Toronto. The film will be produced by Morgan Creek’s James G. Robinson along with David Robinson and Daniel Bobker & Ehren Krueger, and will be executive produced by Mike Drake. The screenplay was written by David Loucka. British Airways fights back with new bed arrangement

In a bid to attract high-end customers to its flight service, British Airways (BA) has put together a brand new offering for travellers, making key improvements to beds, mattresses and their surroundings. BA revealed its contemporary improvements at the same time as a number of other competitors announced their decision to instead focus on economy travel in a bid to attract more individuals while also keeping their heads above water during the downturn. None other than Rachel Weisz, the blockbuster actress, was brought in to promote the launch of the design, which is supposedly inspired by classic British luxury car brands including Jaguar and Aston Martin. BA explained that the first-class seats fold into a flat bed, providing 60 per cent more shoulder room and a leather-bound writing desk/dining table conversion, a USB port for personal electronics and even a personal wardrobe.
