Larysa Kondracki’s The Whistleblower nabbed the top honor for Canadian film in the Borsos competition at the 10th Whistler Film Festival in the mountain resort town in British Columbia. The film, starring Rachel Weisz and Vanessa Redgrave, is based on the true story of a Nebraskan police officer who took a job working for the United Nations as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. The film honor is presented by the Directors Guild of Canada, BC District Council and supported by promo org Telefilm Canada. The competition, named after local filmmaker Phillip Borsos, recognizes films that embody the spirit of independent filmmaking in Canada.
