Rachel Weisz has become the new face of L’Oreal Paris. The stunning actress has signed a deal with the cosmetics firm to appear in the brand’s TV and print advertisements and says it’s a dream come true. She said: “I am honoured to be the new ambassador of L’Oreal Paris, which values both beauty and diversity.” Cyril Chapuy, global brand president of L’Oreal Paris, says Rachel was chosen because women can relate to her. He said: “Rachel Weisz is a determined and a forward-thinking woman, a brilliant and an engaged actress. Women can identify with her.” Rachel follows in the footsteps of Diane Kruger, Aishwarya Rai, Patrick Dempsey, Gong Li, Andie MacDowell and Beyonce Knowles in becoming a L’Oreal spokesperson. Rachel recently revealed how she feels sexier now she is a mother to four-year-old son Henry. She said: “I feel sexier after having a baby. It makes you feel a lot more confident and appreciative of your body and what it’s capable of doing. I’ve got a lot more respect for it.”

Rachel Weisz And Emily Blunt To Play Sisters

Rachel Weisz and Emily Blunt are to play sisters in a new semi-improvised project. The as-yet-untitled movie – which is to be filmed in Seattle later this month – is to be produced by Steven Schardt, and is expected to take just a couple of weeks to shoot. Indie director, writer and producer of the film Lynn Shelton has recruited the two British stars to play a pair of siblings who find their relationship is put to the test when a man – played by Humpday actor Mark Duplass – threatens to come between them. Both actresses are well-known for having notoriously busy work schedules, with Weisz having spent a week on Terrence Malick’s untitled new film earlier in the month, while shooting for The Deep Blue Sea begins in November. It is thought the brief shoot time of the Lynn Shelton film is what has allowed Weisz to take part, as she will be able to squeeze it in prior to The Deep Blue Sea

Rachel Weisz Returns to the Stage?

posted by admin on October 07, 2010 under Other Projects with 0 comments

Oscar winner and Olivier Award winner Rachel Weisz is expected to return to the stage in David Hare’s postwar drama Plenty, according to London’s Daily Mail. David Leveaux is set to direct. Weisz was most recently seen on stage in the iconic role of Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire at London’s Donmar Warehouse. She took home an Olivier Award for her efforts. Her other stage credits include the Almeida Theatre’s production of Neil LaBute’s The Shape of Things, a role which won her a Theatre World Award during the show’s run off-Broadway in 2002. Weisz also played the part in the 2003 film adaptation of the play. Additional screen credits include About a Boy, Constantine, The Constant Gardener, which won the actress a 2005 Academy Award, The Mummy and The Fountain. Plenty was Hare’s first play produced on Broadway, in 1983. The central figure—to be played by Weisz—is Susan Traherne, the depressed diplomat’s wife who served as a secret agent during World War II, and worked behind enemy lines in Nazi-occupied France. The play was turned into a 1985 film, starring Meryl Streep in the central role, and featuring a wide-ranging cast that included John Gielgud, Tracey Ullman, Ian McKellen and Sting. No dates or theater have yet been scheduled for the revival. According to producer Robert Fox (who was also the driving force behind five of Hare’s Broadway productions including The Blue Room and The Vertical Hour), “We’re not quite certain where it will start yet—it could be New York or it could be the West End.” Timing will depend largely on Weisz’s busy film schedule. The Hollywood darling is currently shooting an adaptation of Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea, with Simon Russell Beale and Tom Hiddleston.

Rachel Weisz Goes 360

Rachel Weisz has signed up to psychosexual drama 360. The Oscar-winning actress will work with Constant Gardner director Fernando Meirelles on the movie, which has been written by Peter Morgan, Deadline.com reports. The drama movie is based on the play Reigen by Arthur Schnitzler and consists of short scenes between couples before or after a sexual liaison. At the end of each scene, one half of the couple is seen in bed with another character, and so on, until the promiscuity comes full circle. The play has already been made into a film, including French project La Ronde – it has not been confirmed if 360 will follow the same pattern as either the play or its subsequent spin-offs. Rachel – who is engaged to film director Darren Aronofsky – recently confessed her career is only just beginning and she feels she is a “late developer”. She said: “I prefer to look forward and think about all the things I still haven’t done. I feel like I’m only just getting going. I’m a late developer. “I’ve definitely worked with some really interesting people, but I feel my best is yet to come. Well, I hope!”

“The Whistleblower” Synopsis

posted by admin on August 20, 2010 under Movie News with 0 comments

Directed by Larysa Kondracki, making her feature film debut, The Whistleblower has an impressive cast, including Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave, David Strathairn, Monica Bellucci, Benedict Cumberbatch and Luke Treadaway. Larysa Kondracki co-wrote the script alongside Eilis Kirwan. The Whistleblower does not yet have a distributor, so a release date is currently unknown. However, with a cast list this impressive, expect a studio to snap the film up in the not too distant future.
Official synopsis: Kathryn Bolkovac (Weisz) is a Nebraska cop who is thrust into the gravelly snake pit of UN regulated Bosnia. She works as part of a private corporate army, training Bosnian police to restore order to the war-torn country. As she begins to get the lay of the land in her new environment, she starts to see signs of a terrible underground industry whose patrons are not only from within the corporation but from within the United Nations as well. After finding a woman who has escaped from a human trafficker selling sex slaves to hidden brothels in the area, Kathryn begins to see how expansive an industry it has become in the years following the war. As she gathers more and more evidence to bring to light she discovers the last thing she ever expected, that there is no way for the corporate army and UN officers to be held accountable for their actions. Based on the harrowing true story of a single womans quest for justice in the face of a truth no one wanted to expose and organizations facilitating the very crimes they were created to stop. But is one woman enough to go up against the United Nations and its corporate conspirators.
