Hollywood actor Russell Crowe of Gladiator fame has replaced the late actor Heath Ledger in the forthcoming Australian movie Dirt Music. The movie is an adaptation of a Booker prize shortlisted novel by Tim Winton. Initially, Ledger was signed to play the male lead role in the film opposite Rachel Weisz. But, the actor left the project to take up the role of the Joker in The Dark Knight. Moreover, the actor passed away in 2008 thus clearing the way for Crowe. Phillip Noyce, the director of the film, has now confirmed that the movie will start rolling with Russell Crowe in the lead. He added, “We were almost prepared with the money and the lead actors Heath and Rachel Weisz. But, then Health wanted to play the Joker so none could argue with that. It took some time to find out someone suitable to play the lead role ‘Luther’.” With Dirt Music, Crowe will be seen in an Australian movie in more than a decade.

Weisz’s Son Solves Chicken Coop Dilemma

posted by admin on August 05, 2010 under News & Gossip with 0 comments

Actress Rachel Weisz has an unusual way of keeping coyotes from her chicken coop at her family’s country home – she’s enlisted her young son Henry to urinate around its fence. The Mummy star keeps a coop of nine hens and one rooster at the upstate New York home she shares with director fiance Darren Aronofsky. And she admits the couple’s four-year-old son is having a lot of fun making sure the fowls are kept safe. She says, “He plays with the chickens, he catches them. “Apparently if human beings urinate around the perimeter of the chicken coop it keeps the coyotes at bay. Apparently they don’t like human urine. “So my son has taken on this task and he is peeing his way around this fence. He’s serious. He drinks a lot and he saves his pee for the chicken coop.”

Rachel Weisz: I’m Not A Noble Person

posted by admin on August 02, 2010 under News & Gossip with 0 comments

Rachel Weisz isn’t “noble” in any way, so would never die for her job. The actress plays Hypatia in her movie Agora, which was recently released in America. The film is a historical drama set in Egypt, and Rachel’s character was interested in learning about astronomy and mathematics. The actress was attracted to the part because it is so different to what she’s done before. “It seemed very unusual and daring and out of my comfort zone, so I thought, why not?” she explained. “She’s willing to die for what she believes in, which I’m not – at all. I’m not noble in any way. The way I figured out I could identify with her is that I’m very, very, very passionate about my work, and so is she. But I also managed to have a relationship and be a mum. I don’t think she had those options open to her.” Rachel prides herself on being down to earth, and not allowing her job to dictate how she lives her life. She is engaged to filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, and they have four-year-old son Henry together. The star makes sure she spends as much time as possible with her family – they travelled with her when she shot Agora in Malta. Rachel rejects other star’s claims that it’s impossible to have a private life when you’re famous, saying she manages just fine. “It’s all a load of rubbish,” she told the USA Today newspaper. “There’s a few people on the planet for whom it is an issue, but people are not going to attack you. They’re respectful.”
