Weisz’s Slurred Meeting With Apatow

Rachel Weisz fears she may have killed her chance to land a role in a Judd Apatow comedy – because the filmmaker hasn’t called since she drunkenly confessed her “passion for him” at a Hollywood party. The Mummy star admits she’s a big fan of the Superbad producer, and has been desperate to work on one of Apatow’s films for years. But she worries she went overboard when she professed her love for his work and is now convinced she’s lost the opportunity to collaborate with him for good. She says, “I worship Judd Apatow. I think he’s extremely funny. His work is ground-breaking… I love his movies. “I have actually met him a couple of times. I don’t actually think it went that well… I’d had a few glasses of champagne. I went up to him and I was very intense about my passion for him… Maybe slurring a little bit. No (he hasn’t called me).”

Late Bloomer Rachel Weisz

Rachel Weisz is a “late developer”. The 40-year-old actress revealed she doesn’t like to look back when it comes to her career. She said: “I prefer to look forward and think about all the things I still haven’t done. I feel like I’m only just getting going. I’m a late developer. “I’ve definitely worked with some really interesting people, but I feel my best is yet to come. Well, I hope! The Brothers Bloom star admits it took her a while to feel comfortable in front of a camera. She explained to Empire magazine: “The thing about acting is that I’ve never felt. ‘Oh yeah, I’ve done that, now I can relax’. It’s a lifelong thing. “It actually took me a while to relax in front of a camera, so I think as soon as that started to happen, things started to get better.” Despite having an acting career spanning almost 20 years, Rachel revealed she has only felt natural in front of a camera “in the last few years”. She added: “I have a very vague concept of time.”

Rachel Weisz’s Refreshing Role

Rachel Weisz was pleased she got a role in The Brothers Bloom, as she was looking for a “light” film to take part in. The 40-year-old actress – who has made her name acting in serious dramas such as The Constant Gardener and The Fountain – revealed she was attracted to the “weird” character of Penelope. She said: “I just got into a mindset where, for a short time, I turned down all the drama I was offered, the stuff I’d usually do. I wanted to do something light, then this script came along and it seemed very original. “It was a fun female character, too. It wasn’t just a romantic comedy. She was kooky and weird and . surreal.” The actress admitted in the past she used to act in much less “mainstream” productions. She explained to Empire magazine: “When I started at college, I was doing incredibly experimental, abstract theatre that was not mainstream in any way. I was deeply fringe – massively avant-garde.” However, Rachel thinks it is becoming increasingly difficult to find female roles in dramas. The brunette beauty said: “People are not making dramas. And as for dramas with female leads . f***ing forget about it.”

Superstitious Rachel Weisz

Rachel Weisz’s whole day can go amiss if she wears the wrong shoes. The Brothers Bloom actress revealed she can be very superstitious at times. She said: “I’m a bit superstitious about certain things, like what shoes to wear. If I wear the wrong shoes, the whole day may go wrong. “Or if I don’t get to the bottom of the stairs before the door closes – stupid little things like that.” However, when it comes to her spare time, 40-year-old Rachel likes to do things which are a little more down to earth. She stated: “I wish I had some exotic hobby like doing yoga upside-down on a tightrope, but I don’t. I just like good conversation, seeing my friends, going out for a great meal and being a mummy.” Rachel also insisted she has never struggled to combine her career with motherhood. She explained: “Being an actress as a mum is very easy because the baby just comes with you. The sets are welcoming to children, dogs – it’s like a circus. It’s a friendly place for a child to visit.”

Rachel Weisz’s Unicycle Lessons

posted by admin on July 15, 2010 under News & Gossip with 0 comments

Rachel Weisz learnt how to ride a unicycle in two weeks for The Brothers Bloom. The 40-year-old actress – who plays eccentric heiress Penelope in the Rian Johnson-directed comedy – confesses she had little time to learn a menagerie of special tricks and an expert had to be employed to help her. She said: “I had to learn to look like I could play violin, piano, banjo, guitar. Plus karate and skateboarding! And I’ve never ridden one in my life. “There’s a unicycle and juggling. It was a lot of stuff and I had two weeks to learn them all, apart from a card trick – a really complicated one. “An expert from England was flown to the film set, and I spent weeks and weeks learning the trick. Before we started I couldn’t even shuffle a deck, so I always had a pack of cards with me and I had to practice every single day.” The British star also admits she wanted to do a comedy after a long period of serious roles, but those casting were not so keen and she had to pursue them. She told the Scotsman newspaper: “I really wanted to do a comedy. But it wasn’t the kind of work I was being offered. The director and producer certainly weren’t running after me. I ran after them.”
